Troubleshooting & versioning

Common problems

401 missing_api_key
Header must be exactly Authorization: Bearer <key>. Check your server reads the key from config.
Browser shows a CORS error
You're calling the API from browser JavaScript. Call it from your server instead (see WordPress / PHP).
400 invalid_context
The token expired (2 hours) or was altered. Send context: null to start a new search.
Results look stale
Course data refreshes daily overnight. Check https://oms-api.mainconsulting.co.uk/api/public/v1/health for the last sync time.
Slow responses
4–8 seconds is normal. Use a 30-second client timeout and show a loading state.

Versioning

  • The version is in the path: /api/public/v1/. Breaking changes would ship as /v2/, with notice, while v1 keeps running.
  • Additive changes (new fields, new enum values) can happen within v1. api_version in each response shows the contract date.
